The Role Of Nutrition

The Role of Nutrition.

Personally I tire of the analogy of food equating to the fuel in a car and how the quality will affect the performance. Despite this being a fairly accurate description, it is very limited in explaining exactly how much difference nutrition can make to your fitness and health.

PT nutrition take this concept many stages further and incorporates the cutting edge research and practice as far as linking nutrition into your lifestyle and training practices. So this page will explain why we work alongside personal trainers and why we take such a detailed approach to your program.

Personal training and nutrition

It is not necessary to explain the importance of fitness as you already employ a personal trainer, great start! And the fact you employ a personal trainer proves you believe that professional guidance is the best way to reach your goals. If that is the case, then you must also accept the fact that this must also apply to all areas of your health. So why is nutrition so important in reaching your training goals?

Your personal trainer can get you to perform to your best ability in so far as your existing health and (yes) fuel will allow. But everyone has a different health profile, everyone has a different preferred fuel source and mix, and everyone has different goals and training program.

Using a professional nutritionist to construct a nutrition program is the equivalent to using a personal trainer for training. This is why we work so well together, to offer you the most complete package to suit your needs and why we offer so much more.

So what 'so much more' do we offer! Now we are cooking (excuse the poor nutritional pun).

PT-nutrition look at many different areas in order to design a suitable program so you can reach your goals, all equally important and necessary to optimise your goals and training program.

We look at your health profile to best ensure this is supported in the best way possible and is not a limiting factor.

We look at your metabolic profile to determine the food types and mixes to which you are best suited. This is partly genetic, partly how you have developed to the person you are now in terms of physical structure and partly the type and amount of training you are doing.

We look at your existing diet as a basis of any plan. We never like to change things too much. You have a routine and an existing lifestyle into which your program must be integrated. Your program must be manageable to you. Also your existing diet is a good indicator as to why you are in a particular state of health.

We design your diet to meet the demands and goals of your training program. Whether it be weight loss, weight gain, even just to get fitter, you program must meet your aspirations.

All of these aspects are equally important in order to give you the best possible program which is why you need a qualified and experienced service to offer this. So the combination of a good personal trainer and a strong nutritional program through a qualified nutritionist is the best way in which to reach your fitness goals.
